Gasoline at $1.99 or less probably gives GM & Ford a small chance of survival because it may buy them some time to get some new, efficient designs through the pipeline. However, I think any boost in gas hog sales due to lower gas prices is already being mitigated by the onset of the RE correction and by a growing sense of uneasiness among consumers who's long range scanners report a distant recession blip inbound at Warp 9.
