My great grandfather had two marriages and I did not know that until I attended a gravestone ceremony by a Historical Trust for him in 2005 and was introduced to the second family's survivors. There was a great grandson and he brought his grandson. I enjoyed meeting them.

He was a Headmaster of a school and my grandfather never spoke much of him or his mother, only his siblings and I was too young to think of asking him about his parents, I guess. His first family consisted of a wife and five children. I did get to know his sisters and brothers when I was a child, but they passed away in my early youth and of course my memory faded after that. My grandfather kept me up many a night talking about other relatives he had and teaching me to play poker with matchsticks. That was fun and I learned well.
