Conservation ain't going to accomplish anything. Gasoline is a revenue stream for the bureaucrats. Kinda like cigarettes. Oh sure, it's bad and we need to increase taxes on them. But the govt has decided they need the revenue stream from cigarette taxes just like fuel taxes, more than the greater good. If cigarettes are Soooooo bad, then why aren't they banned? If fuel conservation is Sooooo necessary, then why isn't it enforced? Follow the money.

That is the closest I have heard to the reality of conservation so far. Until they can figure out who is going to pay the money they need for their pensions, and bloated salaries, they are not giving up on ANY INCOME STREAM......
