Bush got a small bounce from 9/11. In two weeks, it will be gone.

Bushies manipulate gas prices anytime they like. Remember, Bushies include the Saudis who control much of OPEC, plus all the big oil companies. Anyone who says they can't or don't manipulate prices is a gullible fool.

They usually make it go up, but when they feel particularly desperate, they grit their teeth and bring it back down. Also the cease fire in Lebanon held and that influenced prices.

Will the Democrats blow it again? Probably. They have no clear message. Repubs have the "You want to be safe, vote Republican". What's the Dems message? Get out of Iraq? Protect our rights? Save social security? Each Dem candidate picks a different message. The Democractic party has not differentiated itself from the republicans. Goldwater's "Echo" analogy seems very appropriate at this time.
