That seems to be the only way.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the feature.

My policy is to determine who has me on ignore

I really like it when they get mad, and tell me I am being put on ignore. It allows you to Logically reply to any mistakes in their posts, and in theory they never know what you said, thus the argument goes in a way they hadn't expected, and people think they have no answer to what you said..... Ignore is a wonderful feature for those of us who want to use it.....

I disagree....except in very rare instances...I think use of ignore is more a reflection on those doing the "ignoring" indicating an inablity to deal with opinions other than their own...which I distiguish from moderating a thread which has specific rules of engagement so to speak....what I find particularly hilarious are those lily livered lefties who "put me on ignore" but continue to read and respond to my posts simply to make my "ignore count" rise....

Overall my opinion of bans and ignores is that we should not need them.... It limits a pm that someone might want to send and if there is a violation of TOU or whatever those initials stand for then the person could be reported with the copy and post violation sent to Dave. I am thinking of PMS here.

Bans hurt. Discourage the ideas being shared even though they might not be popular ones. Everyone on these threads knows where everyone stands politically anyway.. So, what's the use.

If people were nicer to one another and didn't get so worked up and frenetic then maybe courteous and open discourse could take place... Only to be hoped. At least we all could have some nice arguments.

Thanks for reply.

I place such people on ignore because
it will cause their own ignore "score" to rise. I think that is only fair because I feel that use of the ignore function is
probably more illustrative than other measures as to what the poster is about. If people choose to use it, their profiles should reflect it.

Exactly. And that's what I do. There have have been a few times when it seemed that people would not respond to me when I used it, but otherwise, I follow your practise.
