JCP, Why should we care what ONE soldier in Iraq feels about the war? Soldiers are our tools, to be deployed where they can best serve the interests of OUR country.

Our soldiers are to use their judgement and knowledge in carrying out U.S. military policy. If they are nothing more than tools, then for example they would have to obey illegal orders and not be held responsible for it. That's not how it works. Even a neophyte who's seen the movie "A Few Good Men" should know that.

By the way, I know that soldier personally. He's an officer, and he graduated from West Point. I think his opinion should matter more than, say, Maureen Dowd's. Or the opinion of some dissenting grunt you happened to find on Google.
