The reason why the national debt keeps piling up is that Cheney has said that, "The debt doesn't matter." Apparently he believes that as the greenback is the world's reserve currency, other nations will want to have it and none of them would dare call America on its debts.

The Dems need to start accentuating the deficits in terms that the "guy on the street" can understand and appreciate.

Like pointing out how much "their" part of the debt is growing and how much of their taxes is going to nothing but "interest".
