The Pope is claimed to be infallible in matters of Church doctrine, only. He can make mistakes in other arenas.

I don't see anything wrong with his comment (it was just a quote, after all)

Yeah, but he said it and it's inflammatory and he needs to own that.

It's like on SI when you go on a lefty or righty thread and post something that is mildly divergent from their party line and they go bonkers thinking you some troll from the other side. Is that reaction warranted? Nope. But it will happen.

I don't presume to know what he intended. You can argue that it was just a quote to set up his point, not a point with which he suggested any agreement and that would be correct. OTOH, it is common practice in rhetoric to slip something in there that sets the tone, not directly talk about it, and claim plausible deniability when in fact you've intentionally implied what you couldn't say. I think that arguments on both sides of this one are plausible.

I don't see anything wrong with what Pope Benedict said, either.

I, for one, and I am one among many, am pretty damned sick and tired of Muslims getting their panties in a bunch and rioting whenever anybody says something that they don't like.

They're a bunch of immature, selfish brats having temper tantrums.

You don't see Christians rioting because Muslims are insulting the Pope.
