Peak People is going to happen soon, possibly before Peak Oil. We are nearing the crest. Baby busts are everywhere. Italy, Japan, Germany [other than Islamic Jihad types], even China. India's birth rate has dramatically reduced. Africa is seething with AIDS and their population is unlikely to grow much after a huge boom in the 1990s.

It would only take an H5N1 plague to push us over the top. Which could happen as soon as December [the plague, not the peak] as winter comes on and flu proliferates with the possibility of humanizing H5N1 to H12N8 [the humanized version].

Even without a major extinction of people due to disease, nuclear war, mass genocidal war, or a Pacific Ocean bolide splashdown, the global baby-boom is over and a huge decline is certain over coming decades. There are a lot of baby-boomers for example, who are aging and are dying now. Many are in medical trouble. Our children have not had many children. Same in all countries.

As China and India develop economically, increasing their oil consumption even as they die off, fewer people will use more oil. So, Peak People will be before Peak Oil. There is no shortage of oil at current prices and current prices will cause a huge boom in production.

I wasn't clear. I was referring to people's actions. I'll buy gas at two bucks a gallon instead of bio-diesel for three bucks a gallon.

Remember the nozzle adapters for putting leaded gasoline into the newer unleaded cars? Until the govt prevents the cheapest being sold, it is what most people will buy. Leaded gasoline use didn't stop until the govt stopped it being sold. People aren't going to stop using cigarettes until they are stopped being sold.

A better energy source isn't going to be sold to the masses until the more economical alternative is eliminated.
