I replaced both a free standing stove and my fireplace with an insert. Haven't had to buy the optional electric monica yet. (Cool room air is naturally drawn around the hot firebox, heated and returned back into the room without using an optional blower. lopistoves.com ) I've got maybe 20 acres of trees. I've been heating with wood for over 30 years. Never had to cut a tree, tho. Always enuf coming down, and I don't burn a whole lot. Work nights, don't feel like making a fire when I get home. Crawl into a heated water bed. Oh, you know what? People buy walnut for furniture and gun stocks.
