A lack of political will at the federal level due to lobbyists combined with Madison Ave selling us GM, or however that works. Bad for business to do that stuff, eh?

California, the 6th or 7th largest economy, is trying, but we can't compete with the fed's inaction. 12th largest GHG emitter. Not great, tho. We'll do better. In about 6 years, the US won't be able to come close to meeting our auto standards. Too bad for them.
