Actually Saddam may be preferable to what's coming in Iraq, and even what we have now. It is the saddest kind of irony that the defanged Saddam without WMD or any Al Qaida connections (which we now know was the truth) might be less dangerous to our interests than an Al Sadr type leader allied with iran against the US and Israel. Some 80% of Iraqis wants us out of their country and despite Bush rhetoric, the situation there clearly has us incapable of any kind of military "victory" and highly unlikely to stabilize the country for years to come, if ever.

All of the above is the fault one Bush-Cheney's deliberate lies and shockingly piss-poor planning via a vis Iraq. It's unclear whether they believed their own lies, but they deliberately misled congress, the American People and the UN.
