Did you see this brouhaha about the Pope and Islam? Let me say I think the Muslim uproar over these comments is overdone but why in hell was the Pope talking about this text? I have read the news reports which say he didn't intend to suggest Muslims are violent but what other takeaway is there? Religion...ain't it wonderful? Turns people against one another, either for moronic or murderous reasons. Well, they killed an Italian nun over the whole issue. I don't even understand why the Pope would make such a statement. What was the point of recalling the words of some Christian emperor from the middle ages. Its as if someone is lining all the players and getting them to do things to enflame the situation even more than it is already.
