It's a start-Somali Islamic Courts Official Says Killers of Italian-Born Nun Nabbed

Text of report by Somali Union of Islamic Courts website Qaadisiya.com on 17 September:

The head of the security and defence committee of the Union of Islamic Courts Shaykh Yusuf Muhammad Siyad alias Indha'ade, has said the assailants who murdered an Italian-born nun, who has been working at Mogadishu's SOS Hospital in the last five years, have been arrested.

He added the two men who killed the nun and her bodyguard are being held at the [former] police HQ and are currently being interrogated and would be taken to court.

"The two men who killed the Italian-born nun have been nabbed and are being held at the Commando Bolisio. They are being interrogated over their motive," said Mr Indha'ade.

The two men in custody today shot dead the nun and one of her bodyguards as she was entering the hospital. She died of her injuries.

The nun had served at the SOS hospital for five years. She was the head of the hospital's nursing school.

The killing comes at a time when there is improved security in Mogadishu which is under the Union of Islamic Courts.
