Bruwin & Grispin:

"so I’d be interested to read what you, or others, believe caused its recent fall in price."

An important reason is the massive insiders' selling since March 2005 -- a total of $143,500,536 worth.

Despite its apparent good value + capitulated volume in recent days, I would like to see some insiders' activities in replenishing their stock positions before PTEN can be fully qualified as a timely contrarian investment.

Yes gcrispin, it looks like the price of the Resource could have affected the performance of the company.
Probably one of the reasons to be very circumspect when investing in Resource-based companies that are very reliant on the price of their resource. There's not much that even the best Company Management can do about something that's beyond their control.
Much the same, I believe, can be said for Mining Stocks etc..
