what if u are an agnostic/athiest person that still believes in a moral life ie "do unto others....."?

That's fine with me.. I'm not here trying to convert anyone to any particular religion. Every person finds their own way to "god".

But if there were any religious message that I would espouse, it is that mankind has no right hiding behind god as a justification for inflicting violence upon another human being.

And I know the Jews and the Muslims primary base their religious beliefs upon the old testament "kill them all, god will know his own" philosophy, but I'm a New Testament believer along the lines of Matthew 7:12 (you cited Luke 6:31).

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Matt 7:12

An almighty god doesn't need pitiful fools like us waging war over religious interpretations and beliefs. Our responsibility, IMO, is to protect the oppressed to the best of our ability from those who would deny them their inalienable human rights, and to enhance the condition of all human life (and the rest of god's creatures).

Unfortunately, it's unlikely we'll ever totally end human suffering.. And in most instances where evil and oppression are confronted, a lot of innocent people die when they wind up getting caught in the middle of the combat.
