>The ACLU has become an organization of idiots for idiots. They do very little that's worthwhile anymore.

You kidding? They do a ton of stuff. Look at their website. Nowhere on the homepage do you find anything about stripping the Pledge or removing the Ten Commandments. Those are just the things that become newsworthy because people like Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity rail about.

I think you need to raise your consciousness about this organization as you have with the Republican Party. I don't agree with everything they do, but I understand why they do it. I think if you look at the cases they take, you'd agree with MORE than you disagreed with.

I agree. The ACLU has become the "voice for nitpickers" while the truly under represented have gone lacking a voice.

The ACLU seems more interested in getting press than getting meaningful results.

The pledge may not impact lives but it invokes strong emotions in people. Furthermore, how can you expect people who do not believe in God to pledge allegiance to him? It could prevent them from pledging allegiance to the US. Personally, I don't care but there are lot of people who do. And there are people on both sides of the issue who feel very strongly. That's why the ACLU has taken up the cause. And don't forget the "under God" portion of the pledge was not part of the original but was added much later.

As for the ACLU, here is their action page......after reviewing the page, its clear the pledge of allegiance is not what drives the ACLU.
