Chicago, IL -- (Sports Network) - Rex Grossman threw for 289 yards and a career- high four touchdowns, leading the Chicago Bears to a dominating 34-7 victory over the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field.

Grossman completed 20-of-27 passes and Bernard Berrian had five receptions for 89 yards and a score for the Bears (2-0), who shut out the Green Bay Packers, 26-0, in their season opener.

"It felt real good," Grossman said. "Thirty-four points is a pretty good performance and anytime we do that we are going to win and anytime our defense keeps the other team to seven points, I think we are going to win as well."

Thomas Jones added 64 yards on the ground and tight end Desmond Clark had 85 yards receiving and a touchdown.

"We just wanted to come out and start fast because it is a division game," Clark said. "If you lose a division game, that's like losing two games essentially because that counts more toward the playoff race so we wanted to come out and really get ahead in our division and right now we are ahead.

Jon Kitna went 23-of-30 passing for 230 yards and scored the lone touchdown for the Lions (0-2), who have been held to just 13 points in their first two games. Roy Williams had 71 yards receiving on six catches.

"We are beating ourselves," Lions head coach Rod Marinelli said. "Our worst enemy is us right now; fumbles, turnovers, penalties, all the communication things."

Grossman hit John Gilmore for a three-yard score to give Chicago a 7-0 lead with 10:11 remaining in the first quarter. The Bears took over on Detroit's three-yard line when Brian Urlacher recovered a fumble after Alex Brown sacked Kitna.

Robbie Gould's 32-yard field goal gave the Bears a 10-0 lead. The seven-play, 61-yard drive was set up after Brown forced and recovered a fumble from Kevin Jones. The possession, which began on Chicago's 25-yard line, was highlighted by a 19-yard reception by Clark.

Chicago went up 17-0 when Grossman connected with Berrian for 41 yards down the right sideline 44 seconds into the second frame. Berrian also caught a 17- yard pass on 3rd-and-12 to keep the possession alive.

On the ensuing drive, the Lions had a chance to put three points on the board, but Jason Hanson missed a 40-yard field goal wide right, wasting an 11-play, 58-yard march that ate up 6:52 of clock.

The Bears then took over on their own 30-yard line and put together an eight- play, 70-yard possession that was capped by a 31-yard touchdown pass from Grossman to Clark with 3:36 left in the half. Muhsin Muhammad hauled in a 12- yard catch for a first down during the drive.

Detroit opened the third with a 10-play, 86-yard march that resulted in a Kitna sneak up the middle for a touchdown, cutting the deficit to 24-7. Kitna hit 6-of-7 passes for 83 yards, including 23-yarders to Roy Williams and Dan Campbell.

Chicago took a 31-7 advantage on Gilmore's five-yard TD reception with 32 seconds remaining in the third. The 11-play, 80-yard possession was almost cut short when Boss Bailey intercepted a Grossman pass, but an illegal use of the hands penalty on Jamar Fletcher nullified the play. Rashied Davis' 31-yard catch on 3rd-and-7 kept the drive moving.

A 45-yard boot by Gould put the Bears up by 27 points with 10:03 left in the fourth.
