What choice does he have? If the Republicans are unified, then they can use this against the Democrats. If not, then there is the risk they lose control over the House and likely the Senate, and that means they can be investigated. If these laws pass, then they will claim the Democrats are doing this strictly for political reasons since they had worked with Congress to provide a legal basis.


And its true that his strategy is working.....his poll ratings are climbing. The whole national security issue is working a third time. And its remarkable how many national and world events are playing into his hand........the latest being the Pope.

If they don't get the laws passed, then they are in deep trouble.

I would like to see what Cheney and Bush would do should the GOP senators not do their bidding.
