As with Gulf War Syndrome, Republicans are diligently working to deny First Responders and Veterans compensation. Even the Deputy Mayor of NYC had to fight to get help.

Republicans will buy more yachts for themselves but refuse to provide healthcare for vets and first responders whenever and however they can. Republicans: yachts first, people never.

This is what lies in wait for ALL Americans should Republicans continue to get their policies made into law. It's the future death of the US of A as a nation of honor, justice and decency.

I don't believe it Doug. It was only dusty/smokey for a week or three and I'm sure they had access to breathing protection. Heck, even in New Zealand there are stores which sell all sorts of industrial safety equipment, such as full face masks with activated charcoal filters. I bought one years ago for just such emergency needs. Or just to do some dirty job which would involve my lungs being polluted.

Where's the data on this terrible breathing problem that the first responders experienced? Surely firemen had breathing protection? I know they have.

Maybe the ones who are having trouble breathing are overweight and smoke cigarettes?
