Americans Will Die as Politicians Watch

Written by Barbara J. Stock

Islamic terrorists all over the world must be praising Allah for the unexpected assistance they are receiving from America’s own politicians. No longer will the leaders of al Qaeda or Hezbollah or Islamic Jihad have to worry about their captured warriors being “coerced” into revealing the details of the next big attack on America.

In fact, the captured terrorists probably will not even be required to give their names. We will just have thousands of prisoners with numbers only who will have lawyers paid for with our tax dollars at their beck and call. Taking fingerprints or taking a photograph will be deemed an invasion of their privacy and perhaps they will find a way to make it against their religion. Americans will be ordered to pay for the special food, religious requirements, medical and dental care, and of course, all their legal fees as they sue the United States for denying them the right to kill us at will.

Terrorists all over the world must be slapping each other on the back in celebration of their good fortune as folks such as John McCain protect and coddle them. Our own citizens will be put at risk and our soldiers and Marines in the line of fire of every lawyer the United Nations can pay for with money it takes in from—where else—America.

Can you imagine bin Laden’s glee as American senators talk of taking the “moral high ground” and “We must be concerned about how our prisoners will be treated by the enemy when captured?”

In no war since the inception of the Geneva Conventions have American prisoners been treated well. Our prisoners have been tortured, starved, and murdered without regard to any agreement to be civilized. Apparently, America is the only country expected to be “civilized.”

Has anyone wondered why al Qaeda has no prison camps? The tortured and mutilated bodies of our soldiers have been found dumped unceremoniously in ditches. No respect is even given to their dead bodies.

Civilians are supposed to be protected under the Geneva Conventions, however, the tortured and dead bodies of civilians are being dumped all over Baghdad by Islamic terrorists.

Perhaps the section of the Geneva Conventions that President Bush wants clarified should be re-examined.

PART I GENERAL PROVISIONS

Article 3

In the case of armed conflict not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following provisions:

1. Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria.

To this end the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons:

(a) Violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture;

(b) Taking of hostages;

(c) Outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment;

(d) The passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.

Is there one single word of this article that is upheld or honored by al Qaeda or any other Muslim group involved in terrorism? Do those groups not involved in terrorist acts demand that their brethren uphold the Geneva Conventions? Despite this, Muslims will take to the television and radio airwaves to complain over the perceived treatment of Muslims at Guantanamo Bay.

Outrage reverberated throughout the Muslim world at the treatment of prisoners at Abu Garib at the hands of American soldiers. Interestingly, that prison has now been turned over the Muslim Iraqis and reports of screams from prisoners being tortured have been heard and not one Muslim or humanitarian group is complaining about it.

In Iraq, Shia and Sunni are taking hostages, torturing them to death, and then dumping their bodies as a warning to others. Instead of demanding that this barbarism stop, Muslims are rioting in the streets because Pope Benedict dared quote some 14th century emperor who stated quite correctly that Islam is violent and evil. Typical “peaceful” Islamic behavior is to take to the streets, demand that someone be hung, and then proceed to the nearest church and burn it down.

Americans must realize the facts about the enemy that they are facing. This enemy will not abide by any laws other than Islamic law. It will not treat prisoners well. Islam doesn’t take prisoners: It takes hostages. If those hostages prove to have no value, they will be tortured and killed and their bodies dumped like rubbish in the streets. Soldiers and humanitarian workers are equal targets of opportunity. Muslim and non-Muslim hostages are taken. Western hostages are a prize. A Western journalist could be worth money to the Islamic terrorists.

Article Three, Section one, Item b, of the Geneva Convention forbids the taking of hostages. Does this stop the Islamics from taking hostages? It does not.

What exactly does the statement “Outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment” mean? Does the average American realize that for a Muslim, being touched by an infidel is considered humiliating and degrading? If not defined, the mere touch by an American soldier on the arm of an arrested or captured terrorist could be used in a law suit against any soldier, Marine, or CIA agent and defined as “torture” because it is degrading for Islamic terrorists to be touched by a non-Muslim.

While Islamics rampage across the battlefield, hiding behind children, which is also forbidden by the Geneva Conventions, America’s own political leaders want to feel morally superior. While our own politicians tie the hands of those trying to protect us, the enemy is cutting off the hands and heads of those they “capture.” Is it any wonder people question whose side our morally superior politicians are on?
