That's just one of a number of different things they do; it's just the one that the media picks up on.

If you look at their website, there's no mention of any religious cases going on at the moment.

They do many positive things. Unfortunately, they have a perception of being left. Given that this country is right of center, every effort is made to publicize their oddball cases and downplay the good that they do overall. And those oddball cases may seem strange but whether we like it or not, there is a constitutional principle behind them that needs to be defended.....that's why the ACLU takes up the cause. Its human nature to want an organization to support only the things we like and not the things we don't like.
