In his "mind", there are no objective facts. Facts, and science, must have a political orientation. And if objective ones don't measure up, then make up some that fit into the scheme. Just look at the Nazis and "race science" or the Soviets and Lysenkoism. I am beginning to see that its pretty useless presenting the facts to most of them, not just shorty. Like you said, they see facts as a challenge to their political beliefs that must be refuted.
