I think he was thinking of an outright sale to another person and renting....

The real estate tax deduction and interest rate deduction of course only partially offset those costs of real estate tax and interest. Home office deduction isn't dependent on owning.

i dunno, perhaps capital value will not fall by 50%, powered by neighbors who must sell, as the electorates rises against big government at heavy cost, and so my recommendation doesn't work out as well
