Townhall.com is a pack of chickenhawk liars. It's true that in 1964 Kerry felt he might be drafted so he enlisted in his choice of the Navy instead, but he volunteered proudly for Vietnam, and for combat, did two tours of duty, never backed down from enemy fire or a fight, and served for six years. He could have easily done what Bush-Cheney did and evaded service altogether through any manner of tricks. For one thing Kerry was connected to both the Forbes and Kennedy families, like Bush was the Bush family, being in with the rich and powerful meant you could evade war simply by asking. Cheney did get five deferrments and Bush protected himself from war by cutting in front of the line to get into the champagne unit of the Texas Air Guard for rich kids. This despite Bush's poor entry scores. He was later grounded, refused his drug test and went AWOL, disappearing for eight months, then leaving two years early to go to Harvard. AWOLBUSH.com has the actual records of Kerry volunteering for Vietnam and Bush refusing to be sent to Vietnam. There is a lot more there as well.
