This site mentions two miscarriages and the fact she suffered from endometriosis en.wikipedia.org This site refers to a rape and a child which was taken away from her while she was in an orphanage. It also seems to indicate that she was unable to carry any pregnancies to term and this would suggest medical reasons. This site also claims 12 abortions overall, but whether the claim is justified--who knows? The link is about dubious science but indicates that the information is from a biography. handwriting.org This site looks at endometriosis and how it may relate to many problems. abc.net.au If you have the time you might want to read the following online. It has 12 chapters but is a fairly quick read and is very provocative. It also brings up little known facts about others such as Dimaggio and Sinatra... crimelibrary.com It sounds like she lived quite a nightmare overall. Who could wish that sort of life on anyone? As to the abortion question, it sounds like the men in her life may have sometimes required her to abort pregnancies she actually had wanted. As well there are her medical problems. And of course there are emotional issues. And of course, who knows?
