"And it probably has a lot more to do with demographic changes and other things that are not the direct results of government polices."

There is pretty much a one to one correlation between how well the economy is doing and the violent crime rate. The two pretty much move in lockstep.

Crime went down every year of the Bush administration except 2005 (2006 is to early to tell).

To the extent that the difference is a function of government is primarily local, and then state. Its not mostly a federal issue. And it probably has a lot more to do with demographic changes and other things that are not the direct results of government polices.

Crime has worsened every year of the Bush administration. And there is good reason......good paying jobs are scarce. People are short of money for the basics. We are at war and that makes for more turmoil. The president is constantly challenging the world to a fight and suggesting that the cowboy mentality is the American way. The rich are favored over the poor. This administration is visibly less concerned with obeying the laws of the land. When taken individually, these acts are relatively innocuous but as a whole, they begin to have an impact on a culture and help shape the attitudes of its people.

But than you take 1 year of data, that probably has little or nothing to do with federal government policies, and extract from that "Crime goes up under GOP administrations"

What nonsense...

Tim, I can't help it that you are so uninformed that you don't see the connections that are right in front of your face.
