You take the fact that I didn't write my congressman to complain about the policy of supporting Musharraf, and than say it means I like Musharraf. No you don't just say I like Musharraf you say I like all capitalist dictators. Don't you see how I find that to be a slur? Tim, since 2000, you have indicated through your actions and your comments that you endorse the policies of this administration, many of which I find repugnant. Whenever I have criticized capitalism, you are there to defend it. Whenever I pointed out that some socialism can be beneficial, you are there to criticize it. In fact, the dominant theme I get from you is capitalism is good; socialism is bad. One of the dominate policies of this administration is that they treat capitalistic dictators much better than they do freely elected leaders who are capitalists with a strong socialistic background. Your attitudes reflect a similar bias. So its not a huge jump for me to say that you haven't met a capitalist dictator that you don't like.....from everything I know about you, it fits. Frankly, if my comment misses the mark, it ain't by much. Your words boil down to - "Tim likes dictators", and not just that but every single non-socialist dictator. That is insulting. How would you react if someone called you a ahole and than said "well I really mean that you are younger than me, or that you live on the west coast. "Like" and other relevant terms in your posts don't mean what you say you meant any more than "ahole" means "lives on the west coast". To toss out the type of insults that you tossed out and then to say "those words don't really mean that" is strange to say the least. Tim, I didn't realize how much this bothers you. I am sorry I made the comment because of the reaction you are having. Maybe I have a thicker skin than you do but these days people from the right are calling me much worse names and making all kinds of accusations about my principles because I won't endorse Israel's bombing of Lebanon. So to some degree I understand how you feel. At the same time, you will be judged by the company you keep and there is considerable evidence that Bush and the GOP are not particularly honest; definitely not very competent and seemingly very motivated by their ideology which permits them to make alliances with less than honorable people and to perform acts that are not in keeping with an advanced, first world nation. Now you keep denying either that these things are true or that they are very significant....but these days, the only people who feel that way are hard core righties. Even more moderate Republicans are starting to speak out against the policies of this administration. Therefore it seems to me that if you are sensitive to comments like the one I made, then you need to rethink your positions re. this administration.
