Threads like that go through stages. The first is the promise of a refreshing dialog with openness and politeness. Then come a few obvious bans, usually of crazy trolls. Then come a few gray area bans, like the one today for Laz. The fourth stage is when the moderator fights with adversaries and allies alike about thread conduct and defends his bans. And the fifth stage is massive crackdown, banning on emotion, detachment from the various issues raised.

X got to stage five on her thread in about two weeks. How long will it take you?

Thames was wondering out loud if Americans like us don't secretly harbor a desire to be Fascists.
That's possibly the most idiotic statement of all. On the threads he favors, he reads articles and posts every day lambasting the administration- -from American newspapers and by Americans.. If he's kept his eyes open, he's aware of death threats by Americans against the President and Vice-President. These guys must be the most incompetent dictators ever seen on earth.

Either that or they're not dictators.

Has he forgotten that this country was an ally of his against Germany and Italy in WW2? He's as bad as the French!

It's almost an insinuation but not quite.
I don't like being called a Fascist either.

Maybe the idea for that type of thread is never going to work.
These are very divisive times. This country is at war with itself as much as anyone else. But that Brit is not helping matters. Maybe I should have pointed out that the Parliament of his own country elected and then reelected Blair Prime Minister.

I definitely disagree with it but whether or not it should cause him to be banned for it is another question.
Not to me it isn't. He called me homosexual and a fascist.
