BTW, I read somewhere that at the last Cable conference, Cisco/SciAtl demonstrated a new DVR box that has wireless connectivity and does many of the things Apple's iTV does. So everyone will be competing pretty fiercely on this stuff. Cisco will be slugging it out with the best of them. Also, keep this in mind. Cisco has two channels to sell through. There's the Linksys division that has VERY successfully taken the #1 spot for consumer networking gear. They can sell their iTV competing box through that channel. In addition, they can sell their box through the SciAtl employees to the Service Providers like Comcast and TWC, who will then lease the boxes to their customers, like me. So Cisco has two ready-made channels to sell through. Appple doesn't have both of those routes. However, never discount Apple's marketing machine. They are masters at marketing and they will make their iTV box the hotest thing since sliced bread. In the short term, that actually might help Cisco sell their own box as Apple legitimizes a whole new product category. Also, don't forget that even is Cisco is beaten in the iTV box category, Cisco will still benefit from the networking gear they will sell to support video over IP.

Cisco wins no matter how you slice it. More bandwidth demand equals more Cisco sales. Lot's of people have called that axiom into question, but you can safely ignore them. Cisco is the bandwidth lion...king of the bandwidth jungle...and they will benefit most from the current video boom that is beginning right now.
