In addition to my TV, my 27" PC monitor is actually "HD ready"... but I would have to get a $6 per month box from the cable company. Just can't bring myself to do it 'cause I resent how much I already pay for cable.

The one I bought has a HD tuner...but it really only gathers local stations that broadcast dual mode. I got the box bacause you get TNT, ESPN, Discovery, PBS...all in HD. You don't get these without the box or a card equivalent if your TV supports it, but that also has to be rented from yuor cable company.

Are you watching more TV? The study I read said over 50% of people who get HD watch more.

Not really...not that I have noticed. I do like a football game in 1080i however...it's amazing the difference.

I was tempted to buy a 1080p capable unit as I was shopping...but there are no broadcasts that I know of at this resolution. I am told it's another leap in quality....but how much better does it have to be?

Al

Yeah HD is great... and I think this is the year it comes into it's own. I wonder if there are any almost "pure play" HD stocks?

GLW.......not a pureplay but heavily into that line of work.
