<Poor Sikhs>

They sure arent poor in the US. Visit San Jose sometime. 9 out of 10 your cab driver will be a Sikh person.

In terms of religion - they are obligated to wear the turban, as a means of covering their hair (which can not be cut/shaved/whatever) for their entire lifetime.

It is my understanding that Sikhs "have to have" 5 things with them at all times...(I only remember 4) :
- Kesh (hair)
- Kripan(sword/knife) *
- Kacha (a type of underwear)
- Kanga (comb - u will usually find this tucked in under the turban at the back)

* = if the knife/sword is taken out of its sheath, it is expected to draw blood before being put back.
