Google gets approx half of its revenue from third-party publishers running google ads.. (like on blogs, other websites, etc)

If easy turnkey software appears that people can purchase, which allows them to show contextual ads by themselves, then Google has just lost half its revenue stream. Yahoo and MSN not so much, since they never had even close to half their cash coming from third party sites..

It appears that the large search/ad companies are discovering that disintermediation and substitution are two-edged swords.
