This last spring we had a virtual invasion of woodpeckers in this area. At least two or three varieties. It's apparently illegal to kill one of them, but people wanted to. They were drilling into attics and garages all over town. Caused a lot of damage. I still see a few of them. Much smaller variety than I'm accustomed to seeing. Pretty, but a noisy nuisance.

I was just watching a deer out there (eating) a few minutes ago. I put out 9 lbs of deer corn each day alongside a washtub of water and a salt lick. I noticed deer and bear tracks coming right up to the house and figured out that they are attracted to the smell of the grill.
