Hello Marice, <<My point is that Hong Kong is only free until China decides to change things>>

... you mean J6P is only free until other J6P decides to change things, like now?

China is becoming freer each passing day, and as the Chinese are famously patient, matters are visibly improving, day by day, month by month, and year by year. But what does that have to do with Hong Kong? We are like Monaco/Lichenstein to China, where the loot is comfortably residing, not answerable to any entity in Europe and Americas ... why would Beijing want to change what is needed? Be logical, exercise the mind.

<<Why on Earth would you want to do other than be under the thumb of Beijing which lets you do absolutely anything you like, provided it's within their rules?>>

What are the rules set up for HK? That we cannot declare independence? HK has always been dependent. We like it that way, and that is why your neighbors from HK can buy and sell you over breakfast for what is in their checking account.

<<Let's hope your freedom remains and increases>>

... strangely, it visibly is. Fact is fact.

<<New Zealanders can actually vote for more freedom, unlike you>>

... NZ cannot. If it could, it would have. HK is just about perfection, and any attempt at improvement will far more likely mess it up. For that is the definition of close to perfection.

<<perhaps I should beg for asylum in Hong Kong before it's too late>>

... USD 835k will get you in. Can also try Macau, at 200k.

Chugs, J
