There is a dark side to the American psyche with a long history of horrific bloodshed. Starting with the extermination of most of the Indians, the extermination of the buffalo, slavery, the civil war, on and on. We were at our best during WWII when our president asked for us all to sacrifice and change our ways to adapt to new threats and a new world. We came out of that united, but then the dark siders started the Cold War. That used fear-mongering to bring us to the brink of mutual self-destruction and it was quite insane. Vietnam was also insane. We killed 2 million people there even though they were no threat to us at all. They were mostly innocent people. Want me to go on?
