See this is one of the problems with going strictly by the text of the Quran (or any ancient text) and claiming to be an authority on what other modern people believe. Especially if there is ill intent, which you apparently have toward Muslim people.

Much of the Quran was written with reference to the situations Muslims were faced with, in this case the Muslims had been persecuted by torture, and slaughtered by the regional tribes, the Persian Empire and the Roman Empire. During these horrible times the parts of the Quran were delivered to guide Muslims to be strong, protect their members and survive the onslaught of oppression and violence. That is what the text you offered is about.

If you don't understand the richness of the context and how the text makes reference to the ancient culture (which can be misinterpreted by common norms) then you are bound to end up with a corrupted or entirely ignorant representation.

The foundations of the religion are simple and encourage goodness to one another. Religions don't hurt people, people hurt people. The religion, as I said earlier can be used to hurt or to help others. Your common sense should tell you that much.
