I don't want a slugging match on this thread -- I simply want to hear from others on issues of respect for human rights and the rule of law. I don't see either idea as radical and I do not believe they are best approached in a partisan manner. I am, for example, extremely encouraged to see growing bipartisan opposition to the President's quest for legalized torture. This is exactly what I would expect to see if the center finds its voice and refuses to be shouted down by loud voices from either extreme.
