Historic production from mines in the Sierra Mojada district produced about ten million metric tons of ore containing a minimum of 500 grams silver per metric ton, and probably averaged about 1000 grams per ton (31 grams equals 1 troy ounce), in addition to copper, lead and zinc. Sierra Mojada ores were selectively mined and direct shipped to the smelter.
