Good example. Unless they did convert in their beliefs, there was no genuine conversion. They told us when they got back that they just said what they had to, to stay alive. No genuine conversion because the captors were so corrupt that they qualify for most definitions of crazy.

I can't swear no one teaches that, but it is definitely not common, I don't see any sensible way to interpret the foundational teachings of Islam that way. Those guys were young radicals who were way over the edge and everybody knows it.
