I know a guy who was with a character that did one of the first bungie jumps off the Crooked River Bridge in Oregon. They had carefully measured the bungie, but my friend thought the guy had smacked in because he came so close to the ground at the bottom. But he came up hollering and shouting like it was the greatest thing. He had missed death by inches. I am not impressed. I think it is a sacrilege to take chances with one's own life for no good reason.
