Not a plan, just a structural view of how economies actually operate that is informed (hopefully) by the data ... and the willingness to change when that data screams "YOU ARE WRONG, IDIOT!"

Its worked for 30 years.

Maybe a better way of putting it is that you were not willing to take the risk (given your basis and psychological makeup) that the shares would go down from here, whereas the guy who bought them was.
