Thinking outside the box is the best way to solve problems. Thanks for your ideas.

If we combine US / Israeli / Japanese and Taiwanese know-how we could have a much more effective missile defense technology in a few years. After all of the allied group had an effective shield the world would be a different place. Each has unique needs and concerns.

US is most concerned with long range ICBMs, with a secondary concern about rogue launches from unpredictable locations.

Taiwan is most concerned about medium range ballistic missiles from China preceding a ground and sea assault.

Japan is most concerned about medium range ICBMs from North Korea with a strong secondary concern about Chinese aggression.

Israel is most concerned with multiple short range missiles from the Israeli muslim and Lebanese muslim terrorists and they have a strong secondary concern about medium range ballistic missiles from Iran.

This would lead to developing multiple layers of defense with differing costs. For instance if the shield that Israel needs were built it would have to be inexpensive to disarm each incremental missile. Taiwan's shield would have to be instantly ready to disarm huge multiples of simultaneous launches. These are very different but complimentary research projects.

Japan has no nukes, if I remember right it's against their constitution.
