eh, well, uhm, we do not actually have a one for one voting system, and as the economy is the freest in the world when judged by your heritage foundation, meaning almost perfect, i suspect a one for one system that attempts improvements will, by inference, likely mess up perfection, even if only by enabling electoral-enabled theft.

At least you have some semblance of elections, even if it's what, 30% of the seats of your legislature are elected by the people.. That, at least, is a start...

But now much longer do you think Bejing will be able to quash attempts to make ALL of those seats directly subject to elections??

All it's going to take is a significant economic contraction (recession/depression) and you'll going to see some major social upheavals, IMO... Because the rich are going to be less inclined to be concerned about the poor. And the poor, well the poor are just going to get poorer and that's going to make them resentful and quite edgy..

Btw, the only difference between electoral-enabled theft and the theft that's currently going on, is that the elected folks can be thrown out of office.

There is no greater thief than someone who not only makes the laws, to their own benefit, but also enforces only those that further their interests.

So what happens when YOUR interestst begin to compete with theirs??
