Boeing-led group reportedly wins U.S. border-security pact

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Boeing Co. has emerged as the winner of a federal contract to provide infrastructure and monitoring systems aimed at bolstering U.S. border security, the Washington Post reported. Citing congressional sources, the Post said the contract's valued at about $2.5 billion over four years. Subcontractor participants in Boeing's bid include L-3 Communications and Unisys Corp. the report said. Boeing's proposal centers around the construction of 1,800 towers to be built along the borders with Mexico and Canada, equipped with a variety of sensors, cameras and motion detectors. The Department of Homeland Security is expected to formally announce the contract on Thursday, the Post said.
