The real issue is will we investigate: <the UN Commissioner for Human Rights, said that certain Israeli actions constituted "foreseeable and unacceptable targeting of civilians" – illegal under international law.>

We can take your approach and say nothing happened and GST has a mental problem, or we can take credible claims from multiple sources and investigate. I think people want to know with greater clarity what on earth happened -- were civilians targeted or not? The US has a background investigation on Israeli use of cluster bombs against non-combatants. A similar investigation under Reagan found against Israel and we temporarily halted shipments of these terrible weapons that kill so many children. In my view we need greater clarity on the broader issue of Israeli targeting of non-combatants and policies of retribution against civilians. We also must ask what should we do if it is found that civilians are being targeted? If Israel used our cluster bombs (again) against non-combatants (women and children), then what should we do? Suspend shipments for a few months? Or something more?

When our commission of war crimes has become "normal" for us, we have lost something precious -- our basic human values.
