Have you ever read the Richard Lattimore translations of several of the books of the New Testament directly from the Greek? He's a Greek scholar, not a theologian, so he just translates it as if it were any other text. My favorite translation.

In fact, I just read the Gospels and the Acts.

The other books, I will pick up from time to time if something I read triggers a memory. My husband, a Lutheran, has one of those Bibles that has lots of annotation which helps one find things that one can only remember dimly.

Arguing about religion on the Internet, especially with fundamentalist Protestant creationists, has brought me into some very interesting discussions where I've take a fresh look at things that I don't recall ever being brought up in any great detail at mass or in religion class, like the New Covenant.
