I have read, I can't remember where, that the quality of the HD signal is so much more important than the quality of the TV that it makes it almost a non-issue. I think there are only a handfull of LCD manufacturers in the world, so the actual screens are probably about the same. I suppose a second/third tier manufacturer could figure a way to screw up anyway.

Another nice thing about LCD is that if you decide to upgrade at some point you can always use the old one as a computer monitor.
