I'm still partial to GLW .. it just took out the 144 R and 200 R today. stockcharts.com Corning Gains on Rival Plant Shutdown Wednesday September 20, 2:56 pm ET Corning Shares Climb After Rival LCD Glass Maker Rival Shuts Down Tank NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Corning Inc. climbed Wednesday following a tank shutdown in Taiwan by its largest LCD glass competitor, Japan's Asahi Glass Co. Corning makes liquid crystal display glass used in flat panel displays, as well as fiber-optic cable products and lab equipment. Asahi is the company's largest competitor in LCD glass, according to Credit Suisse analyst Michael R. Walker. The tank, he said, accounts for 15 percent of the company's LCD capacity, and it is expected to be out of commission until early next year.
