Overall, it was probably good that the Bush Manifesto polarized nations and put all alliances and tolerances under scrutiny. This is irrespective of any better or worse as to goals or execution. Just to know there is such an enemy and to be able to identify probable allies and probable apostates is something. Understanding a problem is the beginning of seeking solutions. Prior to 911 we were truly sleeping and enjoying a dangerous dream of peace. Now we are awake.

First efforts were perhaps fumbling at times. But Islamic hegemony is real. These religious and (really) racial wars have gone on for centuries. Pretending otherwise is to guarantee defeat.

For all the "seeming" separation between Dems and Repubs, I believe that either party will protect America and further her interests. The rhetoric behind these power struggles obscures the basic values shared by most Americans and the necessary self interest.

There are facts not available to the public which are always the first priority of the President and his/her advisors. It is like the Defense and the Crown. They talk a different line but they still want you to bring in the funds...
